My story · 33 years of The Flower Press
A temporary idea.
A lifelong love.
A love of flowers, a change of direction, and 33 years of preserving treasured memories.

How it began
Every piece you see here, and on my social media, is work I have personally created for a client.
From accounting
to flower pressing.
When I got married, I worked in the accounting department at Malta Airport. Later, while expecting my first child, I had to give up my full-time job. Nursery and daycare facilities were not available in Malta at the time, and I needed to be at home with my baby.
Having always been used to working, I wanted something I could make my own. So, while I was still pregnant, I started The Flower Press. It was meant to be a temporary venture until my children began school. Thirty-three years later, that temporary idea has become a full-time job I love.
The memories behind the flowers
The joy stays with me.
One of the loveliest parts of my work is meeting the people who bring me their flowers. A bridal bouquet, an engagement bouquet or flowers from a First Holy Communion arrive with a story of happiness and celebration. As I work, that joy stays with me — almost as though it rests gently on my shoulders.
Some flowers come to me in remembrance of someone who has passed away. Those carry sadness, and it is impossible not to feel it. Yet they also hold memories of people who were loved. Preserving those flowers is a meaningful part of my work, bringing a sense of warmth alongside the sadness.
Over the years, I have met so many lovely people whose happiness and positive outlook have stayed with me. Those connections are as much a part of why I enjoy my work as the flowers themselves.
Made entirely by hand
The hours
seem to fly by.
Every piece takes time. Each petal of every flower is pressed by hand, the papers are changed throughout the process, and the preserved flowers are carefully arranged by hand.
It is patient, time-consuming work, but when I am surrounded by flowers and absorbed in an arrangement, the hours seem to fly by. What began as a way to keep working while raising my family has become 33 years of work I truly love.
